A lifelong Chicagoan, Andrew was looking for a way to give back to the city he loves. He has always been intrigued by the power of sharing and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives. With this thought and his passion for the city, Chicago Rises was born. Whether it’s from riding the “L”, exploring the city’s unique neighborhoods or volunteering at a local nonprofit, Andrew sees the vast potential of the residents and organizations that call Chicago home.
Despite living in the suburbs her entire life, Emily didn’t discover her love for Chicago until she moved here in 2011 for college. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2015 with degrees in Journalism and Psychology. Through journalism she aims to connect important causes with a greater audience to promote awareness and action within the community. She currently works as a freelance journalist with a focus on sports and philanthropy.
Marketing / Social Media Strategist
In 2012, Juliana moved to Chicago from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She studies Marketing and International business at Loyola University Chicago and recently discovered an appreciation for urban art. Juliana first fell in love with Chicago the first time she visited it in 2009. Three years later she moved to Chicago for school and has been here ever since.
Bia studied Psychology of Crime and Justice and is very passionate about reentry initiatives. She is currently a PrEP Outreach Coordinator. Among many other things, her biggest hobby is doing things she is not good at, such as drawing, playing the drums and writing. Her best friend is called Hailey.
Currently studying Journalism at Loyola University Chicago, Emma is excited to cultivate her passion for writing and her love for the city. She believes that journalism should be used to promote justice and give outlets to voices that might not otherwise be heard. When she’s not curled up with her nose in a book, Emma likes to spend her time exploring, people-watching, and playing Quidditch.
Danielle came to Chicago in 2013, by way of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, Utah, and Baltimore, Maryland. She loves urban spaces and communities and enjoys exploring her neighborhood, Pilsen, with her two dogs. An avid reader and writer, Danielle appreciates any opportunity she gets to learn more about Chicago’s dynamic history and culture, and is especially interested in community organizations and local government. In her free time she enjoys playing guitar and pretending she knows how to cook.

Jenna is a Bostonian at heart, but made her move to Chicago in 2017 to pursue her Master’s in Cultural and Educational Policy at Loyola University. Jenna has a passion for Early Childhood Education, and improving the lives of families through education and political change. She has fallen in love with both the buildings and the people here in Chicago, and hopes to help Chicagoans rise to their utmost potential. In her future career, Jenna looks forward to making an impact through conducting educational research in every corner of the world.
Alanna is a filmmaker studying Cinema and Media Studies and English at the University of Chicago. Originally from San Diego, Alanna has lived in Chicago for over three years. She lives and works on the south side, making documentaries for organizations such as I Grow Chicago in Englewood. She hopes to continue making documentaries that explore ethical representation and the active participation of those on screen.
Adia is a Media and Cinema Studies major at University of Illinois. She is striving to be a documentarian and hopes to use film to engage in important discussions as well as create representation for unique points of views. In her free time, she enjoys writing scripts, painting, and finding new music. She has a dog named Lola who smells like mildew and two younger sisters who emit a similar aroma.
